THE PROJECTION BAND (NZ/HR): HIDDEN LANDSCAPES

19.9. ● 22:30h ● MM centre

This project will be produced by artist and musicians from NZ and Croatia connecting two cities, Auckland and Zagreb. The aim of this project is to move ideas of identity, memory and change, to express emotions and feelings of the time we live in. Collaboration is our model and it needs to be approached as set of values shared by six individuals who want to improve quality, depth, and reach full potential of their musical expression. This project is based on socializing and working together; group will create trust, bonds, inspiration and action, that will ultimately bring all our skills together.

The Projection Band will improvise live to a video projection, Ivan Mršić’s work  Hidden Landscapes. The video is made in cubist style using multiple viewpoints, geometric shapes and multi-layers, fragmented and colour infused. Found imagery was digitally manipulated and saturated. The idea was to create a work that would, in a way, trigger associations to urban environment because all the members of the band  grew up in a city (the idea of a city as a living being, city that changes, grows, city that is always different). Mršić used architectural structures that can be found in any bigger city in the world, imaginary or real buildings and streets that appear and disappear rapidly, streets flying in all directions.
